Principal's Page

Dear Superior Families,

I will begin my 21st year in education this school year. I have been a part of the Ashtabula Area City School District for the last six years. Prior to that, I was an Assistant Principal and Athletic Director for the Grand Valley Local Schools for two years and a middle school science teacher for the Chardon Local Schools for 12 years. During my time at Chardon, I coached cross country and track and served in various leadership roles as an educator.  I have worked with students ranging in age from grade five through high school in a variety of roles. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educator and leader to Superior Intermediate and to work with you as a partner in education.

I grew up in Ashtabula County, graduating from Grand Valley High School in 1992.  I then majored in Geology at the University of Akron where I earned her bachelor’s degree in 1998. After graduation, I worked as an Environmental Geologist for 5 years.  In 2003, I attended Notre Dame College where I received a Masters in Education and teaching license.  In 2013, I attended Cleveland State University where I received my principal license.  In my free time, I enjoy CrossFit, spending time with my husband and two children, and reading.

As your child’s principal, I promise to keep students at the forefront of every decision we make as a school. The staff at Superior is highly dedicated and committed to making sure each student is progressing academically, socially, and emotionally here at school. We will strive to teach and provide students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to have a successful future.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher, the office, or myself.

Yours in Education,

Dear Superior Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Laura Lorelli and I am the Assistant Principal at Superior Intermediate and the Elementary Campus’ Special Education Supervisor. I have been with Ashtabula Area City Schools for 24 years. During my first 15 years with the district, I was a special education teacher at the preschool program. After this, I transitioned to a general education teacher for the preschool program for seven years. Last year I was the Elementary Campus Assistant Principal and my office was located in Erie Intermediate.

I am a lifelong resident of Ashtabula County. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree from Lake Erie College in the area of Early Childhood Education and my Master’s degree from Kent State University in the area of Early Childhood Intervention Specialist. Finally, I received my principal’s license from Youngstown State University.

I am looking forward to another exciting year with Ashtabula Area City Schools. I will do my best to help your child achieve to the best of his/her ability. Our motto this year at Superior is Going for Gold! We are Gearing up for success, Overcoming obstacles with support, Loving to learn, and Doing our best daily!  I hope that all of our students at Superior Intermediate and throughout the Elementary Campus have a safe, successful, and fun school year!

Go Dragons!
